2) Famous Wines & Wine Routes

Do you like wine? Do you have a favorite? South Africa ranking as the 9th largest wine-producing country in the world, stats provided by the Paris-based International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV) in April 2019.

Home to some of the finest wines in the world combined with some of the most scenic routes South Africa has to offer. Vineyards scattered across the country you will need a vacation just for this one. My personal opinion, the finest wine routes can be found near the city of Cape Town (the mother city).

For the nonwine lovers, there are two brandy routes to choose from just to take it up a notch. Either way, the timeless scenic beauty will be worth the travel experience.

I’m not a wine drinker or a specialist in the field, just from what I have seen wine or no wine it is always a memorable journey. For more info and latest rankings on South Africa’s top wines I re recommend you visit Top wineSA.

Cape Town is known as the Mother City.

The Western Cape Province is the fastest growing and most developed region in South Africa when it comes to tourism and the industry according to the SA Government Gazette

Therefore the Mother City finds herself at number three of the top 10 reasons to visit South Africa. After living in various parts of the Western Cape, still, today when visiting I find myself lost with all the region has to offer. One vacation will not be enough to explore everything the Mother City has to offer. You will most definitely leave with an appetite for more adventure and exploring.

Knowing that Cape Town and surrounds are filled with tourist attractions, adventurous activities, history and scenery. Activities like taking a fairy to Robin Island or making your way up to table Table Mountain via rotating cable cart or an adventurous hiking trail. Breathtaking scenic views and white sand beaches await you.

With many more activities like shark cage diving, skydiving, two oceans aquarium and the topless bus tours to mention a few. Be sure to take a look at the official tourism page of Cape Town.

With three main climates, ranging from Mediterranean, Subtropical and even a Desert like climate depending on where in South Africa you are. The weather throughout the year is mainly in favor of outdoor activities.

“Do we really want to travel in hermetically sealed popemobiles through the rural provinces of France, Mexico and the Far East, eating only in Hard Rock Cafes and McDonalds? Or do we want to eat without fear, tearing into the local stew, the humble taqueria’s mystery meat, the sincerely offered gift of a lightly grilled fish head? I know what I want. I want it all. I want to try everything once.”

Would you like to speak more languages, how many official languages are there in your country? Known for its cultural and ethnic diversity, South Africa has 11 official languages. There are many other languages that do not receive official status and are quickly disappearing.

One of these languages, that of the Khoi San people quickly fading away. This is a tribal language and is still spoken today but only by a tiny group of people. Have you ever watched the movie “The gods must be crazy”? Well, that is the language I am referring to. It is a comedy about Bushmen, you will have a good laugh.

Cultural museums and heritage sites all over the country landmarked for them, in memory of their culture or ethnicity. With a rich history from settles to the Khoi San, come and discover the history of South Africa and its people.
